بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
اللهم صل وسلم وبارك على سيدنا ومولانا محمد وعلى آله وصحبه أجمعين
Before we begin Ziyarah, we ask everyone to please observe the following Adab.
This is not an ordinary moment. Allah عز وجل has granted us the immense honour of making Ziyarah of a Blessed Hair from the sacred body of Sayyiduna RasoolAllah ﷺ. Please recognise the greatness of this opportunity and present yourself with love, humility and the utmost Adab.
Recognise the Honour Before You
Imam Qadi ‘Iyad رحمه الله states in al-Shifa:
وَلَا خِلَافَ أَنَّ مَوْضِعَ قَبْرِهِ أَفْضَلُ بِقَاعِ الْأَرْضِ
“However, there is no dispute that the place of his grave is the best place on earth.”
— Qadi ‘Iyad, Al-Shifa, translated by Aisha Bewley, Diwan Press, revised edition 2011, p. 271
Imam al-Samhudi رحمه الله further records the report of consensus concerning the blessed place which embraces the sacred body of Sayyiduna RasoolAllah ﷺ, that it is superior even to the blessed Ka‘bah.
— Imam al-Samhudi, Wafa al-Wafa bi-Akhbar Dar al-Mustafa, Bab 2, Fasl 1; Dar al-Kutub al-‘Ilmiyyah, Beirut, 1st edition 1419 AH, vol. 1, p. 31
Now consider what Allah عز وجل has placed before you during Ziyarah. A Blessed Hair that was itself part of the sacred body of Sayyiduna RasoolAllah ﷺ is present before you.
If the place honoured by embracing His ﷺ sacred body possesses such extraordinary excellence, then what should be our appreciation of these precious moments in which Allah عز وجل grants us the honour of being in the presence of something from His ﷺ sacred body itself?
We need not assign a particular rank to that time or place which the scholars themselves have not explicitly assigned. But the lesson for our hearts is unmistakable.
You are about to stand directly before the Blessed Tabarruk of the King of Kings, the Leader of the Prophets عليهم السلام, the most beloved of Allah عز وجل. Do not allow such moments to pass casually.
Before We Begin
Please ensure your head is covered, your buttons are appropriately closed, and that you are dressed as someone presenting themselves before a station of great honour, not as someone who has simply walked in off the street. Remain in Wudu, and apply ‘Itr where possible.
All phones must now be put away. There are to be no photographs, videos or recordings. Let these precious moments be solely for Ziyarah, Durood Shareef and Du‘a.
Please form a single orderly line. Remain calm, avoid unnecessary conversation and approach while quietly reciting Durood Shareef.
Approach calmly, without rushing or pushing. Stand with humility, lower your gaze, fold your hands respectfully, and remain calm.
When before the Blessed Mu-e-Mubarak Shareef ﷺ, look with love, send Salawat and make sincere Du‘a to Allah عز وجل. These are precious moments; come with humility and ask Allah عز وجل for your needs, your family and the Ummah.
Our Golden Rule
At no point should anyone turn their back towards the Blessed Mu-e-Mubarak Shareef ﷺ.
After completing your Ziyarah, move away respectfully while continuing to face the Blessed Mu-e-Mubarak Shareef ﷺ.
Brothers will be present to gently guide you. They may quietly ask you to step backwards or guide you by the arm to prevent you from accidentally turning. Please remain calm and follow their guidance. They are there only to help you maintain the highest Adab towards the Blessed Tabarukaat.
The Brothers Who Will Guide You
Responsible brothers will be positioned around the Ziyarah area, particularly near the Blessed Tabarukaat and along the exit route. Their role is not simply crowd control, but to help every one of us maintain the Adab of Ziyarah.
As you complete your Ziyarah, a brother may quietly guide you to step backwards and move away without turning your back. Where necessary he may gently guide you by the arm, with a quiet instruction such as, “Please step backwards.”
Please understand that any guidance you receive is solely to assist you and to preserve the Adab of the Blessed Tabarukaat. It is not a rebuke, and no offence is intended by it. Please accept it calmly and follow it.
It is natural to become emotional or overwhelmed in such moments. The brothers will show you patience and understanding, and we ask that the same patience be shown to them.
After Ziyarah
Once your Ziyarah is complete, please make way for the next person so that everyone is given their turn.
Where the number of those attending allows it, you may return for a second Ziyarah. There is no issue in this, provided it is done with full Adab and the correct intention.
For These Precious Moments
- Put away your phone.
- Lower yourself in humility.
- Look with love.
- Recite Durood Shareef.
- Make Du‘a.
- And never turn your back.
You are standing before a Blessed Hair from the blessed body of Sayyiduna RasoolAllah ﷺ.
Recognise the immense honour Allah عز وجل has granted you. You may never be granted this opportunity again.
May Allah عز وجل accept our Ziyarah, our Salawat and our Du‘as.
آمين بجاه النبي الأمين ﷺ
